A benefit concert was held February 1st at the Empire Arts Center in Grand Forks, ND. Six bands contributed to a very inspirational and successful evening. The bands included T.J. Porter from Karlstad, Minn., who played a variety of original inspirational songs and is Lacey Hewitt's uncle. Also playing were the WoodPicks, a bluegrass combo from Thief River Falls; Peat Moss and Bones, aka Greg Norman and Lee Barnum from Grand Forks; Tim West & Friends from Beltrami, Minn.; the Diers family band of Grand Forks; and John Haugen & Friends, which was a version of Little Bobby Houle and his local blues band.

Hey Lacey, This is Tim. How are you doing? I'm in Texas visiting friends. Sure had a good time at the concert. I wish the turnout would have been better, but we did OK. Hey, where's the picture of my band? :) We photograph pretty good. Just giving you a hard time! We were all more than happy to help out. I know you will make the most of what we were able to raise to help the kids. Keep up the good work with those kids!! Say Hi to jim for me. Take care. I hope I get a chance to visit with you when you get back to MN. Best wishes, Tim
